Marlow Park – Self Defence Charity Seminar

Self-Defence Seminar for 2Heads Marketing Agency in Marlow Park

At Storm Family Martial Arts we believe that Self-Defence is a crucial skill for everyone, providing not only physical protection but also mental confidence. That’s why we were excited to host a special Self-Defence seminar for the team at 2Heads, who have been making incredible strides in their fundraising efforts for charity.

The seminar took place in the picturesque setting of Marlow Park and was attended by 10 enthusiastic employees from 2Heads, all eager to learn how to protect themselves in various situations.

£10,000 raised for charity by 2Heads Marketing Agency

This year 2Heads challenged employees to walk 500 miles (in total) for charity starting from Streatley and ending in Marlow along the Thames Path. Not only did 2Heads achieve this but they exceeded their target and walked over 800 miles and raised £10,000 which will be shared equally between Dementia UK, BBC Children In Need and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our seminar contributed a small amount towards this amazing achievement by the employees at 2Heads.  Congratulations to all the team there for their incredible fundraising initiatives.

The Seminar Experience

The one-hour seminar was designed to be an intensive, yet accessible introduction to Self-Defence, focusing on practical techniques and strategies that anyone can use. We began with a brief discussion on the importance of self-protection, emphasizing that Self-Defence is not just about physical combat but also about awareness, intuition, and de-escalation.

We covered a wide range of topics during the seminar, including:

– Situational Awareness: Understanding your surroundings is the first step in self-defence. We taught the participants how to identify potential threats and how to avoid dangerous situations before they escalate.

– Basic Self-Defence Techniques: The core of the seminar focused on practical self-defence moves that are easy to learn and effective in real-world situations. We demonstrated techniques for breaking free from common holds and defending against strikes.

– Verbal De-escalation:Often, the best defence is avoiding physical confrontation altogether. We discussed how to use assertive communication and body language to defuse potential threats.

– Mental Preparedness:*A crucial aspect of self-defence is the mindset. We emphasized the importance of staying calm under pressure and maintaining a clear head to make quick, effective decisions in a crisis.

Participant Engagement

The 2Heads team was highly engaged throughout the seminar, actively participating in the demonstrations and practicing the techniques with enthusiasm. Their willingness to learn and apply the skills was evident, and it was rewarding to see their confidence grow as the session progressed. The seminar was not only informative but also a great team-building experience, allowing the 2Heads employees to support and encourage each other as they learned.

Looking Ahead

We were honored to contribute to 2Heads’ fundraising efforts by providing this Self-Defence seminar. It was especially meaningful to us because the connection was made through one of our students, Rav, who is also a member of the 2Heads team. Rav’s initiative in bringing us together for this cause is a testament to the strong community spirit that drives both 2Heads and Storm Family Martial Arts.

As we wrapped up the seminar, it was clear that the skills and knowledge gained would not only help the participants in their personal lives but also contribute to their sense of empowerment as they continue their charitable work. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with 2Heads and other organizations in our community, sharing the valuable skills of self-defence and personal safety.

Thank you to the 2Heads team for their enthusiasm and commitment, and to everyone involved for making this event a success!
